Elven Gray Award

The Elven Gray Award, created in 1991, is given in honor of one of the college's most dedicated and inspiring employees. In addition, this award is given to honor an employee who exhibits the unique spirit of Mr. Gray.

John Mullins came to the college in 1995 and today serves as building and campus services crew leader.

"He has been described as an individual who 'keeps it all together', keeping a sense of humor even in the most demanding of times," Dr. Sechrist, said. "His devotion to the college is genuine, and he expertly fulfills his duties. Despite a highly demanding workload, he is always there to lend a helping hand,"

Dr. Sechrist added. "Mullins displays excellence in the performance of his job; he is approachable to students and fellow employees, and is patient and loyal."

Robert P. Todd Leadership Award

Created in 2006 in honor of the college's eighth president, the Robert P. Todd Leadership award recognizes an OCCC employee who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in his or her work.

Tamara Carter consistently displays all of the characteristics of a true leader in her division, with students and throughout the campus community.

"She is a leader who empowers others and motivates them to reach their highest potential," Dr. Sechrist, said. "She is committed to the college's educational mission and works closely with others to ensure that OCCC delivers an educational experience of the highest quality." Tamara began her career as a professor of mathematics. Today she is the director of the mathematics department.
